MEET WITH PERSONALITY PROGRAMME - DAY 1

Dr. Jayakumar Sir, Assistant professor, Govt. College of Arts and Science, Kanjiramkulam, conducted an orientation workshop on the traits of a successful teacher on November 13, 2023.It was the first Meet the Personality Program session. He has enhanced our minds with his teaching experience over the years.

He started out as an LD clerk. After that, he began working as a primary school teacher.Beyond only being an expert in their area, a good teacher has a wide range of other attributes. To begin with, having strong communication skills is essential. Positivity in the learning environment is enhanced by the capacity to communicate difficult ideas in an intelligible and clear way. Another important quality is patience; it's important to recognize that children learn at different rates and to adjust the support given accordingly.

Having the flexibility to meet the different demands of students is essential. To ensure that every student has an opportunity to understand the content, a competent teacher modifies their methods of instruction to fit a variety of learning styles. Furthermore, pupils are inspired to interact with the subject matter by an enthusiastic teacher since excitement is contagious.

A fundamental trait that enables educators to establish a personal connection with their students is empathy and sincerity. This comprehension creates a helpful environment that motivates students to ask questions and get help when they need it. Effective lesson preparation and time management are essential for covering the curriculum in its entirety, and organizational skills play a key role in these processes.

A excellent teacher goes above and above these things to create a welcoming and respectful learning atmosphere where each student's individual contributions are valued. Ultimately, a teacher's passion to staying up to date in their industry and refining their teaching techniques is demonstrated by their commitment to continual professional development. A competent teacher possesses a variety of traits, but the main ones are organization, passion, empathy, communication skills, flexibility, inclusivity, and growth-orientedness. What and how to educate should be taught to teacher students. All throughout our lives, we should be acquiring knowledge and learning new things. Educating students is only one aspect of a teacher's job; another is creating a dynamic, ever-changing learning environment. It is essential to embrace lifelong learning for a number of reasons. First of all, it makes it possible for educators to keep up with developments in their field, guaranteeing that students are receiving the most up-to-date and pertinent knowledge. Additionally, by embracing cutting-edge tactics that accommodate a variety of learning preferences, instructors can adjust to changing pedagogical approaches thanks to continuous learning.

Furthermore, a dedication to continual learning sends a strong message to pupils about the importance of curiosity and intellectual development. In a time of swift change, educators who pursue lifelong learning cultivate a climate of flexibility, fortitude, and curiosity, enriching the educational process for both themselves and their pupils.
Thus, a teacher ought to be a lifelong student. In the classroom, a teacher plays a function as a facilitator that extends beyond standard lecturing. A facilitative teacher helps and encourages students on their learning path rather than just imparting knowledge. This entails establishing a lively, participatory environment where students work together and actively contribute. By offering challenging questions, stimulating dialogue, and advocating for inquiry-based learning, the facilitator fosters critical thinking.

A facilitator gives students the freedom to investigate and find information on their own, as opposed to being the only source of information. They help students take charge of their education by offering resources, organizing group activities, and serving as mentors. With this method, the emphasis is on developing creativity, problem-solving abilities, and a deeper comprehension of the material. At the end of the day, a facilitator fosters a student-centered classroom where the development of critical life skills, autonomy, and active learning are given top priority. In a class, we must design multi-level activities. In the end, I cast my sincere vote of thanks for that truly outstanding personality.
