On 30 November 2023 we have our field trip. We gathered near the Kuthira Malika entrance at 9.30 am. 


Kuthira Malika 

The Kuthira Malika, also known as Puthen Malika, is a majestic palace in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. Built in the 19th century by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma, it stands adjacent to the Padmanabhaswamy Temple. The name "Kuthira Malika" translates to "Mansion of Horses," reflecting the 122 wooden horses adorning its southern facade.

This architectural marvel showcases a perfect blend of Kerala and Dravidian styles. The palace's exterior boasts intricate carvings, and its red and white facade exudes regality. Inside, the museum preserves a rich collection of artifacts, including royal artifacts, paintings, and musical instruments.

The highlight of Kuthira Malika is the exquisite craftsmanship displayed in each room. The flooring, made of gleaming Italian marble, complements the rosewood and teak interiors. The Darbar Hall, adorned with crystal chandeliers, mirrors the opulence of its era. Visitors are transported back in time as they explore the Maharaja's personal belongings and the rare treasures housed within.

Sree chithra Art Gallery 

The Sree Chitra Art Gallery in Trivandrum, Kerala, is a cultural gem that showcases a rich collection of Indian art. Established in 1935, it is nestled within the enchanting Napier Museum complex. The gallery's exhibits span various periods and styles, offering a captivating journey through India's artistic evolution. Wax Museum

The Wax Museum in Trivandrum, Kerala, is a captivating attraction that brings history and culture to life through lifelike wax figures. Located near the famous Kovalam Beach, this museum showcases a diverse array of wax sculptures depicting prominent personalities from various fields such as politics, cinema, sports, and literature. Vadakke Kotta - Palm leaf manuscript museum 


Vadakke Kotta, also known as East Fort, is a historical fort located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Kerala, India. Built by the Travancore kings in the 18th century, it stands as a symbol of the city's rich heritage. The fort's architecture reflects a blend of indigenous Kerala style with influences from Dutch and British designs.
Surrounded by a circular wall with four gates facing different directions, Vadakke Kotta houses the famous Padmanabhaswamy Temple, an iconic religious structure dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The fort complex includes various historical structures, museums, and a bustling market area. The vibrant atmosphere around Vadakke Kotta draws both locals and tourists, offering a glimpse into Trivandrum's cultural and historical significance. The fort stands as a living testament to the region's royal past and continues to be a focal point for cultural events and festivities.
After all the site seeing we wind up the programme at 1.30pm.It was a wonderful journey.

Field Trip Diary : 

Today's field trip was an enriching experience for both students and teachers. The visit provided us with hands-on learning opportunities, deepening our understanding of academic concepts beyond textbooks. Exploring places like Kuthira Malika, Chithralayam Art Gallery, and the Palm Leaf Manuscript Museum offered a real-world context to our studies, making lessons more engaging and memorable.

Notably, the excursion enhanced our social skills and communication as we engaged in discussions, shared insights, and collaborated as a team throughout the trip. Learning from knowledgeable guides like Manju and gaining insights into the meticulous preservation efforts at the museum added depth to our educational journey.

Overall, field trips like today's offer invaluable experiences that go beyond classroom teachings, fostering a holistic approach to learning, teamwork, and understanding real-world applications of academic concepts.
